HC Deb 07 August 1882 vol 273 c965

In reply to Mr. LEWIS,

MR. TREVELYAN

said, that if the Army Estimates closed at a sufficiently early period of the evening, he proposed to proceed with the Constabulary Vote.

MR. HEALY

I wish to ask the right hon. Gentleman whether, in addition to proceeding with the Constabulary Vote, he intends to go on with the Royal Irish Constabulary Bill? If so, I beg to give Notice that I will move to report Progress, as it is important that the country should understand that while the men are neglected it is proposed that the officers' pay should be increased.

MR. TREVELYAN

ventured to say that hon. Members opposite would meet the wishes of the Government half way. After getting some Votes in Committee he was disposed to go on with the Bill; but he would communicate with the hon. Member beforehand.
