HC Deb 12 May 1881 vol 261 c264
MR. RYLANDS

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether Sir Owen Lanyon is still retained in the service of the Crown in South Africa; and, in that case, what are the duties which he now performs?

MR. GRANT DUFF

Sir Owen Lanyon is on his way to Europe on leave of absence. We believe him to be at this moment at Newcastle, in Natal, ready to reply to any questions which the Commission may think fit to address to him.
