§ SIR EARDLEY WILMOTasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If his attention has been drawn to a memorial addressed to the Home Office by the Rev. James Merest; and, if so, whether he will institute an inquiry into his case?
§ SIR WILLIAM HARCOURTThe case of the Rev. James Merest has been for many years before the Home Office, and has been decided over and over again. My Predecessors thought it a case in which they could not interfere, and I see no reason for departing from their view.
