HC Deb 10 July 1879 vol 248 c25
MR. OTWAY

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether Her Majesty's Government have any information to the effect that Prince Tewfik, recently recommended by them as Khedive of Egypt, has forbidden Nubar Pasha to return to his country whether there were any grounds for this arbitrary proceeding; and, whether Her Majesty's Representative in Cairo was cognizant of the order of banishment stated to have been issued by the Khedive? He might also ask when the further Papers promised with regard to Egypt would be ready?

MR. BOURKE

With regard to the first Question, no information has been received that Nubar Pasha has been forbidden to return to Egypt. With regard to the Papers, can only tell my hon. Friend that the Papers are being prepared and will be produced before long.

MR. OTWAY

MR. BOURKE
