HC Deb 07 July 1879 vol 247 cc1715-6
MR. ORMEROD WALKER

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether there is any foundation for a report that appeared in a provincial paper to the effect that it was not the intention of the Government to proceed with the Banking and Joint Stock Companies Bill this Session?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

, in reply, said, that there was no foundation for the report that the Government would not proceed with the Bill. It was the full intention of the Government to proceed with it; but in consequence of the pressure of Business he was unable at the present time to fix a date for taking it.
