HC Deb 06 August 1879 vol 249 c290
MR. J. HOLMS

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If he can state on what day the House will have the opportunity of considering the Postal Contract recently entered into with the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company; and, whether, in view of the great importance of the financial issues involved both to England and to India in this Contract, he will arrange that the House will have the opportunity of considering it at such a time as would admit of its being properly discussed?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER,

in reply, said, he hoped to proceed to the consideration of the postal contract referred to at the beginning of Business on Friday morning. He could not, however, make any absolute promise that the question would be considered on that day.
