HC Deb 06 August 1878 vol 242 c1302
MR. CHAMBERLAIN

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, What course the Government intend to pursue with regard to the case of alleged corrupt practices at the municipal election at Carlisle?

MR. ASSHETON CROSS,

in reply, said, that he had not yet received the opinion of the Legal Advisers of the Crown on the case; and that he therefore could not say what action would be taken by the Government in reference to it.
