HC Deb 08 March 1877 vol 232 cc1568-9
MR. WAIT

asked the Secretary of State for War, If it is true that Captain Singleton of the 92nd Regiment having completed his five years' appointment as Adjutant of Auxiliary Forces, and applying to return to his regiment, has been informed that he must go on half-pay until a vacancy occurs in the said regiment; whether such information is in accordance with the regulations, if so, when such regulations were made; and, whether Adjutants were informed of their being in force when such appointments were given?

MR. GATHORNE HARDY

I must inform the hon. Member that the supposition contained in his Question is not the fact. The officer in question has been told that he may have leave of absence until that vacancy occurred, and that in the meantime he will be not on half-pay, but on full-pay.
