MR. GATHORNE HARDYSir, no pledge can be given as to the increase of pay and allowances to the permanent 792 staff sergeants under the old system. The Militia Law Consolidation and Amendment Bill, which is being carefully revised, will probably be in the hands of Members before Thursday, the day for which it now stands.
