§ LORD ARTHUR RUSSELLasked the First Commissioner of Works, What steps Her Majesty's Government propose to take to enlarge the Sculpture Galleries in the British Museum?
LORD HENNY LENNOX, in reply, said, that the proposed alterations at the British Museum, for which a sum of £20,000 was taken in that year's Estimates, were designed to add two new galleries for sculpture, and were those which had for some years past been recommended 1957 by the Trustees of the British-Museum. The narrow limits allotted to Ministerial replies would prevent his entering into any detailed description of those plans; but when he moved the Estimates, he would be happy to give every information in his power to his noble Friend.
