MR. HAYTER

asked the Secretary of State for War, If he would explain to the House, whether Lieutenants of Volunteer Corps already on the strength, but by the last Circular made supernumerary, are entitled by attending the required number of drills to Capitation Grant of 30s., and when passed through the examination for proficiency, to the extra Grant of £2 10s.; and, whether Sub-Lieutenants by attending the prescribed number of drills, can earn the Capitation Grant of 30s., and if passing examination at school or before board, will be allowed the extra £2 10s.

, in reply, said, that in both cases the capitation grant and the extra grant were open to lieutenants and sub-lieutenants of Volunteer Corps under the conditions referred to.
