§ MR. MONSELLSir, Mr. Chetwynd expresses a confident expectation that the Return, so far as it can be given, will be ready by the 10th of July. We have received and recorded all the notices from Railway Companies requiring the Postmaster General to purchase their telegraph undertakings, which, within the time prescribed by the Telegraphs Acts, 1868–9, can be given. In the great majority of cases, however, the amount to be claimed has not yet been specified.
