HC Deb 05 June 1871 vol 206 c1538
MR. DIXON

asked the Postmaster General, Whether it is intended to increase the remuneration of those keepers of Post Offices who have been directed to open Telegraph Offices, and who assist in working the Telegraph?

MR. MONSELL

replied, that it was intended to give in a great many places some remuneration to keepers of Post Offices who had been directed to open telegraph offices, and who assisted in their working. The different cases were being considered by the Post Office, and he hoped in a reasonable time that arrangements would be made to give effect to the wishes of the hon. Gentleman.
