HC Deb 23 March 1868 vol 191 c40
MR. ROEBUCK

said, he wished to know, Whether his hon. Friend the Member for Chichester would, after what had fallen from the right hon. Gentleman the Member for South Lancashire, propose the appointment of the Select Committee on this Bill, notice of which stood on the Paper for that evening?

MR. J. A. SMITH

said, he was anxious to consult the hon. and learned Gentleman's convenience and the convenience of other hon. Members as far as he possibly could; but his hon. and learned Friend knew as well as he did the difficulty which attended the proposal of such a Motion at an early period of the evening. He would, however, promise not to bring it on after one o'clock.
