HC Deb 25 November 1867 vol 190 c167
SIR HENRY RAWLINSON

asked the Secretary to the Treasury, Whether, in the event of the new proposed Contract with the Peninsular and Oriental Company for the Mail Service to the East being approved by the Legislature, it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to increase the rates of postage on overland letters between England and India?

MR. HUNT

said, the same Question was put to him last Session, and he then intimated that it was the intention of the Government, when the new service commenced, to increase the rate of postage to 3d. per half-ounce, and that intention still continued.
