MR. WHALLEY

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to his statement that he had received no complaints as to weights and measures from Peterborough and other places, Whether he has made or deems it requisite to make further inquiry as to the fact of such complaints having been received at the office of his department?

MR. GATHORNE HARDY

said, he had on a former occasion stated that he had received no complaints as to weights and measures from Peterborough and other places. On instituting further inquiries he had learnt that complaints had been received from Hoxton, Birkenhead, and Peterborough.
