HC Deb 23 March 1865 vol 178 c86
MR. LOCKE

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, The reason of the delay in completing the necessary arrangements for extending to the Clerks and Officers in the principal Registry of Her Majesty's Court of Probate the system of Classification as adopted in other Departments of Her Majesty's Civil Service, whereby progressive annual increases are made in the salaries of the employés?

MR. PEEL

said, in reply, that no arrangement had, as yet, been made. As regarded the salaries of the employés,the Treasury was perfectly ready to adopt a progressive scale, but no regulations for the purpose could be of any effect until they had met with the concurrence of the Chief Judge.
