HC Deb 19 February 1864 vol 173 cc797-8
SIR EDWARD COLEBROOKE

said, he would beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether he means to proceed with the Second Reading of the Bill that evening?

The CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER,

in reply, said, he did intend to proceed with the Second Reading. As he did not anticipate any discussion on this stage of the measure, he would fix the Committee for a distant day, and that would give ample time for discussing the general provisions of the Bill.
