HC Deb 14 April 1864 vol 174 c971
MR. HUBBARD

said, he would beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether he proposes to re-enact the Income Tax as it stood at the close of 1863, or whether he proposes any, and, if any, what change in its provisions?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

said, in reply, that Government had no intention whatever of making any material change in the provisions of the Income Tax Act. A point of some consequence was raised last year relating to Railway Companies; but it had since been settled by the Courts of Law. He was not aware of any other point requiring legislation.
