HC Deb 30 June 1863 vol 171 cc1765-6
COLONEL ROWLEY

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, Whether any negotiations are being entered into with any private individual or individuals to let the Foreshore claimed by the Crown near the entrance of the Stour for the purposes of an Oyster Fishery, there being a Bill at present before the House to place the conservancy of the Stour under a Board?

MR. PEEL

replied that negotiations were pending, with a view to the protection of the rights of the public in the navigation of the Stour. Oyster-beds were formed in a part of the Stour which was independent of the conservancy of the river.
