said, he rose to ask, What course the Government proposes to take with regard to this Bill?

MR. MILNER GIBSON

said, that when he moved the second reading of the Bill, he was led to believe that there was a general assent to the measure. He had since found that great difference of opinion existed upon the subject, and therefore, at that late period of the Session, he should advise those who brought the measure forward not to press it further this year.
