MR. HEADLAM

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Government will undertake that before any alteration is made in the constitution of the Ionian Islands this House shall have an opportunity of expressing an opinion on the proposed change.

SIR EDWARD BULWER LYTTON

said, that the official papers relating to the subject would be soon placed upon the Table of the House, and ample opportunity would be afforded for discussing the question before any change in the Constitution of the Ionian Islands could take place.
