CROSSsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary for the Home Department whether, as he has stated that it is his intention to refer the whole question of Corrupt Practices at Elections to a Select Committee next Session, he will have any objection to state whether he will refer the subject of Corrupt Practices at Municipal Elections to the same Committee?
§ Mr. WALPOLEsaid, he wished that there should he no misunderstanding on this subject. What he had stated was, that a permanent measure dealing with the subject of Corrupt Practices at Elections would be 2125 brought in early next Session, and would be referred to a Select Committee. He did not use the words, "the whole question." Whether the Bill would include Corrupt Practices at Municipal Elections as well as at Parliamentary Elections, he could not now say; but his own opinion was, that the questions should be kept distinct.
