HC Deb 30 April 1858 vol 149 c2011
MR. LABOUCHERE

said he wished to ask the Home Secretary, in the absence of the Secretary for War, whether it is the intention of the Government not to call out any of the Militia for training before the 30th of June? A statement to that effect had been attributed to the Secretary for War, which had excited a good deal of surprise, and had probably resulted from a misapprehension.

MR. WALPOLE

said, the Militia would not be called out before the 30th of June. That was the answer given by the Secretary for War; to which he might add that it was not the intention of the Government to call them out before the usual time.

MR. LABOUCHERE

What is the usual time?

MR. WALPOLE

The autumn, after the harvest.
