HC Deb 27 February 1857 vol 144 c1489
MR. CONOLLY

said, he would beg to ask the right hon. Gentleman the Chief Secretary for Ireland, whether it was the intention of the Government to bring in a Bill for the redistribution of the Irish Constabulary with reference to the area and population of the counties of Ireland.

MR. HORSMAN

said, that a good deal of communication had taken place upon the subject between the Government and the Inspector of the Irish constabulary. The subject was surrounded by many difficulties, but the Government had determined to frame a measure upon it, and he hoped that measure would be introduced during the present Session.
