Mr. O'Connellbegged to inquire of the noble Lord the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, whether he could give the House any information as to when it was probable that the Treaty with Texas would arrive?
§ Viscount Palmerstonreplied, that the treaty had been sent to Texas three months ago, and that he hoped it would be ratified by the Congress in the course of the month of January; as yet, however, it had not been received in this country.
Mr. O'Connellunder those circumstances, begged to withdraw the motion of which he had given notice for that evening, for "An address for the production of any treaty between her Majesty and the persons called the State of Texas, and to call the attention of the House to the state of the relations between this country and these persons;" and to give fresh notice that he would on that day fortnight, call the attention of the House to the state of the relations between this country and the States of Mexico and Texas.
