HC Deb 23 November 1813 vol 27 cc187-8

Sir William Curtis brought in the London Militia Extended Service Bill, which was read a first time, and ordered to be read a second time tomorrow.

Sir W. Curtis

then stated, that although only a proportion of the London militia were thus placed by the Bill at the disposal of the country; yet, it was the wish and desire of the good citizens of London, in common council assembled, that if government found the services of the country required it, they might consider both regi- ments as theirs.—He concluded with expressing the zealous disposition of the brave colonels by whom those regiments were commanded, of the officers and men, to be foremost wherever the interests of England and the world might demand their exertions.—(Cheering.)
