HC Deb 30 July 1931 vol 255 c2445
51. Mr. BEN RILEY

asked the Minister of Health whether he will take steps to give financial assistance in aid of the installation of telephones in the residences of qualified nurses and midwives in rural districts and villages?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I have no funds at my disposal out of which assistance of this kind could be given, but the county councils have power to make the necessary arrangements so far as midwives are concerned.

Mr. RILEY

Will the right hon. Gentleman do all that he can to get the county councils to use their powers?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I have already done that.
