HC Deb 28 February 2000 vol 345 c92W
28. Mr. Coaker

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many schools he expects to benefit from the National Foundation for Youth Music in its first year. [110625]

Mr. Alan Howarth

The National Foundation for Youth Music's remit is to support activities for children and young people that take place outside the formal education sector. The number of schools which benefit during the Foundation's first year of Lottery funding will depend to a large degree on the number of applications made to the Foundation's programmes, the first of which—Music Maker—is currently welcoming applications, with other programmes due to be announced in the next few months. The Foundation will report publicly at the end of its first year of distribution of Lottery funds, on the number of children, young people and schools who have benefited from its support.
