Cancer services in Northern Ireland are presently being reorganised to ensure that all cancer patients are managed by specialist cancer teams. Such care is associated with a better quality of life and improved prospects of survival. All patients with prostate cancer, who require surgery will be treated by specialist teams. Current research evidence does not support population screening for prostate cancer.
