HC Deb 12 July 1999 vol 335 cc39-40W
Ms Atherton

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what research his Department has evaluated on the effects of noise pollution caused by operations directed from RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall. [90245]

Mr. Spellar

A noise survey was undertaken in 1996 at RNAS Culdrose and noise levels caused by the air operations at the station were measured. A noise map was produced from the survey and used to identify those homes that qualified for a grant under the MOD's voluntary noise insulation grant scheme. In addition, MOD has sponsored or reviewed a number of research studies on the effects of noise pollution which, although not specific to RNAS Culdrose, are generally applicable to air operations.
