§ Mr. Mike O'BrienBetween 1 June 1997 and 31 May 1998, some 720 persons were removed as a result of the enforcement of a deportation order. Around 60 per cent. of those persons were removed on the strength of deportation orders made before 1 June 1997.
An additional 1,230 persons were removed or departed voluntarily during the same period following the initiation of deportation action against them but without a deportation order being made.
