To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much was collected in tolls on the Skye Bridge in the latest year for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement. [69245]

[holding answer 4 February 1999]: The latest published accounts of Skye Bridge Ltd. show that toll income for the year to 31 December 1997 was–3,253,993. From 1 July 1999 this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, pursuant to his answer of 2 February 1999,Official Report, column 589, on the Skye Bridge, if he will place in the Library copies of the Deputy Crown Agent's letters of 6 November 1995 and 5 January 1996 to the Procurator Fiscal in Dingwall. [69886]

As the hon. Gentleman will be aware, all communications between the Crown Office and Procurators Fiscal are strictly private and confidential. Despite that, my noble and learned Friend the Lord Advocate provided the information contained in the written answer of 2 February 1999,Official Report, column 589, in an attempt to be as helpful as possible.

My noble and learned Friend the Lord Advocate considers that it is not appropriate to go further and to place copies of the letters requested in the Library.
