To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will list those local authorities in the North East Region which have not(a) made representations or (b) sought meetings with Ministers, in respect of the local government financial settlement for 1998–99. [32724]

Of those authorities within the boundary of the Government Office for the North East, the following did not make written representations during consultation on the provisional local government finance settlement 1998/99:

  • Hartlepool
  • Durham City
  • Sedgefield
  • Teesdale
  • Wear Valley
  • Alnwick
  • Berwick upon Tweed
  • Blyth Valley
  • Tynedale
  • Sunderland.

In addition, the following did not seek meetings with Ministers during consultation on our proposals:
