To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer for what reasons the Economic Secretary is not willing to meet the hon. Member in charge of the School Children's Clothing and Footwear (Value Added Tax) Bill to discuss its Second Reading on 6 February. [27936]

As Financial Secretary, I am responsible for the matter raised by the hon. Member. Other commitments, including preparatory work on the Budget which the Chancellor will present on 17 March, preclude a meeting at present.
