To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what are his plans for local government revenue spending for 1998–99. [28981]

Further to my announcement on 2 February, I am laying the Local Government Finance Report (Wales) 1998–99 (revised) with the Limitation of Council Tax (Relevant Notional Amounts) Report (Wales) 1998–99 (revised) today. These revised reports replace those two reports laid before the House on 2 February which have been withdrawn due to a small error in the calculation of the standard spending assessments. The Special Grant Report (No. 2) (Wales) 1998 has not been revised.

I am placing revised settlement details for individual local authorities in the Library of the House. The details for individual police authorities and the settlement aggregates have not changed. My decisions are subject to the approval of the House of Commons.
