§ Mr. RaynsfordWe do not know what percentage of private rented accommodation is let by landlords or agents who are not member of landlords' or agents' associations but we know that
over 70 per cent. of privately rented accommodation is owned by landlords letting as a sideline, rather than by business or institutional landlords;around 40 per cent. of lettings are managed partly or wholly by an agent of which some 2,500 are members of a professional association for agents;a small but growing number of sideline landlords are members of local landlords' associations, private landlords' forums and local authority landlord accreditation schemes.
