§ Mr. Andrew Smith[pursuant to his reply, 15 December 1998, c. 478]: I am providing a revised response as the figures in my earlier reply had been corrupted during data transmission and were therefore incorrect.
The correct position is that expenditure brought to account by the Employment service since national roll-out of New Deal is £4.36 million for Gateway and £42.79 million for other provision. Separate regional figures are not available for the Pathfinder districts between January and March 1998 as all expenditure was accounted for centrally during that period. The figures for April to September 1998 are shown in the following table.
