To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will list the schools which have closed in Staffordshire since 1983. [36958]

Shown in the table which I have placed in the Library, are all the maintained schools which, according to the Department's information, have been closed in Staffordshire since 1983. A number of the listed schools have closed as a result of amalgamations with other schools while others have closed to facilitate a change in age range. In such cases the replacement schools are also listed.
