§ Mr. Don FosterTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will list(a) the New Deal units of delivery, (b) the partnerships and (c) the organisation taking the lead in each unit throughout the UK; and if he will make a statement. [38098]
§ Mr. Andrew Smith[holding answer 7 April 1998]: I have placed in the Library a list of the 143 New Deal units of delivery in England, Scotland and Wales which includes details of the organisation taking the lead in each unit.
Each unit has a strategic partnership involving a variety of key players from the local area such as the local authority, the TEC and representatives of employers and the voluntary sector. The composition of each has been different depending upon the particular local needs of the area. These partnerships have worked with the Employment Service to develop the delivery plans for each unit. Each unit will also have a range of delivery partners for each of the elements of New Deal and again the numbers of partners involved will vary depending upon the needs of young people and size of the client group joining New Deal.
We do not have the information centrally to complete a list of all those involved in every partnership across the country.
