Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many children aged under 16 years in each health authority area were discharged from hospital after removal of tonsils and/or adenoids in the most recent year for which figures are available; and if he will indicate the discharge rate per 10,000 children aged under 16 years in each health authority area. The latest available information on the number of operations on patients under 16 for the removal of tonsils and adenoids, and the rate per 10,000 population, is shown in the table. Information on the number of children discharged from hospital is not available centrally.
