§ Mr. Maclean[holding answer 14 October 1996]: Allocation of police resources to the M25 is an operational matter for the chief officers concerned. They are represented on a dedicated M25 group within the national motorway conference of the Association of Chief Police Officers Traffic Committee. I understand that resources are used in a flexible way to match them to anticipated demands and that a number of factors are taken into account including the time of day, the season and the sector of the motorway.
