To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what has been the change in the number of burglaries in Greater London since the introduction of Operation Bumble Bee. [40458]

Operation Bumble Bee was launched, on 1 June 1993, as a Metropolitan police initiative against burglary. Comparison of the 12-month rolling recorded burglary figures, incorporating both residential and non-residential burglary offences, for the Metropolitan police district for the years to May 1993 and to August 1996 are as in the following table:
