HC Deb 17 May 1996 vol 277 cc590-1W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what work has been carried out on the second Severn crossing in the past three weeks; and what work remains to be done in each of the next three weeks. [29765]

Mr. Watts

I have asked the chief executive of the Highways Agency to write to the hon. Member.

Letter from Lawrie Haynes to Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody, dated 17 May 1996: As you know, John Watts has asked me to reply to your Parliamentary Question asking the Secretary of State, what work has been carried out on the Second Severn Crossing in the past three weeks; and what work remains to be done in each of the next three weeks. You are aware that the Second Severn Crossing is a privately financed project under the Concession Agreement between Severn River Crossing and the Department of Transport. The certificate of substantial completion was issued on 26 April; final inspection and finishing works are under way and will be completed to enable opening to traffic on 5 June.
