HC Deb 17 May 1996 vol 277 c591W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will publish a breakdown of capital and current maintenance of local highways for each of the last 10 years. [29556]

Mr. Norris

The definitions of capital and current maintenance expenditure by local highway authorities have changed during the 10-year period. The figures in the table are for outturn expenditure of English local highway authorities divided between capital and current as defined now. They exclude expenditure on professional and technical services.
