HC Deb 09 January 1996 vol 269 c40W
Mrs. Lait

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what will be the cost of the repairs to the A259, including bridge strengthening, around Winchelsea; and how long they will take. [7797]

Mr. Watts

I have asked the chief executive of the Highways Agency to write to my hon. Friend.

Letter from Lawrie Haynes to Mrs. Jacqui Lait, dated 9 January 1996: The Minister for Railways and Roads, Mr John Watts, has asked me to write to you in reply to your recent Parliamentary Question about the cost and timing of road repairs and bridge strengthening on the A259 near Winchelsea. The future roads and bridge maintenance programme generally is being reviewed in the light of the recent budget announcement. Pending the completion of this process. I regret that I am not in a position to say what the cost and timing of future road repairs and bridge strengthening on the A259 in the Winchelsea area will be. I am sorry I cannot be more forthcoming at the moment.
