§ Sir Patrick MayhewIn 1993, the Royal Mint advisory committee recommended a design for the Northern Ireland £1 coin featuring the Celtic cross and a torc. I was consulted at that time about the proposed design and agreed that the design was acceptable. No other parties were involved in the decision-making process.
