To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what is the total number of asylum seekers receiving income support at the discounted rate of 90 per cent. for the latest available date and for the equivalent date in 1992, 1993 and 1994. [39878]

2. Figures for November 1992 are not available.

3. Figures prior to November 1994 include about 2 to 3 thousand cases which, although still recorded as asylum seekers, were in fact no longer being paid at the 90 per cent. rate.
