§ Mr. Robin SquireThe total number of teachers granted early retirement and, of these, the number granted infirmity and premature retirement in each of the years 417W 1984–85 to 1993–94 is given in table 1. The first year cost to the teachers superannuation scheme of these retirements and the total expenditure by LEAs on pension enhancements and Crombie compensation for each year from 1989–90 to 1993–94 is given in table 2. Figures for the first year cost to the TSS of early retirements for the years 1984–85 to 1988–89 and for the total annual cost to the TSS of all early retirements could be produced only at disproportionate cost. Figures for LEA expenditure on pension enhancements and Crombie compensation for the years 1984–85 to 1988–89 are not available.
