HC Deb 30 June 1995 vol 262 cc814-5W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many times the contractor at Doncaster prison has failed to deliver the contracted service; how many times a financial remedy has been imposed against the contract; and if he will make a statement. [31092]

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Brian Landers to Mr. Martin Redmond, dated 30 June 1995: The Home Secretary has asked me, in the absence of the Director General from the office, to reply to your recent Question about Doncaster prison. Six default notices have been issued by the Prison Service Controller since the prison opened on 20 June 1994. Premier Prison Services have rectified the faults immediately and at their own expense. In the circumstances, financial penalties have not been considered appropriate.
