The Home Secretary has asked me, in the absence of the Director General from the office, to reply to your recent Question about Doncaster prison.Six default notices have been issued by the Prison Service Controller since the prison opened on 20 June 1994. Premier Prison Services have rectified the faults immediately and at their own expense. In the circumstances, financial penalties have not been considered appropriate.
